Do Spoilers Increase Sex Appeal?

Several local teenagers are reporting that rear car spoilers actually increase their chances of "hooking up" with members of the opposite sex. A spoiler is an aerodynamic device mounted to the back of a racing vehicle that gives the vehicle more traction when driven at high speeds. But the functional side of spoilers isn't what makes them popular with teenagers today. "I just think they look tight," says 17 year old Ronnie 't-top' Setters, of Sandusky. According to Setters's mom, t-top has been saving his earnings from his weekend job at Starbucks Coffee to install an oversized spoiler on his 1992 Ford Festiva. "It just gives me the edge. It makes me turn heads," says Setters.

The spoiler, installed at Northcoast Customs in Sandusky cost nearly $600, but the money is a small price to pay for the advantages with the young ladies. "Spoilers are a really good way to get attention," says 18 year old Stevie Jackson, of Sandusky. Jackson's father wrote off the decision to purchase the spoiler as a waste of money. "Who wouldn't stare at this comically oversized worthless contraption on the top of his car?"
