A Sandusky Detective's willingness to help one of her own has saved an ex-coworker from serving the rest of a prison term. Sandusky Police Detective Helen Prosowski has agreed to let James Fitzpatrick, a former Sandusky police officer live with her to avoid serving a three year sentence for a sexual offense with a minor. Fitzpatrick was in danger of serving the remainder of his sentence after he failed to register with the Erie County Sheriff as a sex offender and move away from several area schools. Fitzpatrick needed to move as soon as possible or return to jail. "It's the least I could do to help Jimmy," Prosowski said. "When the stonewall [of Fitzpatrick's investigation] ended up not working, we had to come up with an alternative," Prosowski added. "We take care of our own."
