The newspaper business can be rough sometimes. And I'm not saying that just because I'm trying to make excuses for myself, I'm saying it because it really can be rough around here sometimes.
If, when I say, it can be rough, you're wondering, what I mean, when I say "it," I mean newspaper ethics. Take, for example, the ethics of publishing a series of editorials on a topic not prefaced by any newsworthy event besides our desire to effect public opinion on it. Well, some would say that this practice is unethical, but that's an urban myth. This urban myth has been damaging newspaper employees since the beginning of time. Besides we'd never make any money if we didn't kiss the puckered asses of our biggest sponsors!
The mall is turning 30 this year, and to me, that's definitely a newsworthy event because of how many jobs are represented out there to the great people of Perkins and Sandusky. As if anyone actually believes that the mall is a bad thing anyway! Just remember that you're the one who made the mall leave downtown. You, the consumer, are the monster here. Not the mall.
Have a nice day now.
